I won't say much, just say something that bugs me... What's with those new rules in cinema and video games ? Having a black/Asian guy/girl for "diversity" ? Having one important female character ?

I'm sorry, but I don't call that equality; in fact it sounds even more racist. Ok, I'm white, but when I see movies where there are no white men (yes, USA isn't the only country to make movies, in case you're wondering which movies I'm talking about) I don't care whether there are white people or not. I mean, why would it even be important ? Not being racist means not paying attention to the skin colour, but that's quite impossible if there are rules making it an obligation to "represent several 'races'". A main/secondary character should never be created for the sole purpose of "diversity". And the skin colour isn't the only thing, there's also religion/beliefs. I also read stranger things. Racism because there's not a kind of hair colour represented ? ....Ooooook...I think some people are paranoid there... When because there's not a kind of eyes colour ?

Now about sexism... Another new rule is representing women by having at least one important female character in cinema and video games. Now, I'm female so I can speak for it in a way. For example, I heard they had added a woman in The Hobbit 2 because women should be represented as we're in a "modern era"... A female/male character should never be created for the sole purpose of "gender equality". It's offending and by trying to pretend to be unsexist it sounds even more sexist. I wouldn't have mind if there had been no important female character, why should I ? Other example, when a movie/game has a woman as a main protagonist, there's a reaction toward it that's absent when it comes to male protagonists...

The character itself is what matters and what should be cared about, not it's skin colour, not it's gender. That's how a character should be created too.
